Well, it's almost time to turn out the lights on one of my favorite shows. There is one regular episode left this Friday, then the two hour series finale next Friday. I have been a huge fan of the character of Superman since I was a child and began reading his exploits in the comics. I think Smallville has, overall, done a fine job of contributing some very wonderful moments to the canon of the legends of the Man of Steel. Sure, there have been more than a fair share of "clunker" episodes over 10 years, but, to me, I say "So what?" Erica Durance has, for me, re-defined the role of Lois Lane, and I think that's a good thing. I think that Tom Welling has, for the most part, made a very good Clark Kent. I also think it's a shame that the producers of the new film did not even consider Mr. Welling for the lead role. Hopefully, we will see Mr. Welling don the cape and tights in the final minutes of the series, and with a hearty "Up, Up, and Away," leap off into the heavens to continue the battle for "Truth, Justice, and the American Way!" |

Tom welling could still be superman in the justice league movie.

The JLA movie is so confusing. Will they intentionally make Green Lantern look different to avoid confusion? Will they have to make Superman not look good? Will they make Batman wear grey? Will the Flash movie have to be a spinoff because it won't come out till after the JLA movie? I can't fathom the logistics of it all. |

We are getting off topic here, but don't worry guys, I doubt the JLA movie is going to be made. WB has no plan, they're not even prepared. The JLA movie should be made when the time is right, they know it should be made after the greatest heroes of our time, Superman and Batman, have had their movies made, and then after that, the Justice League movie is made with the same people who played Superman and Batman. Hopefully. Whether they decide not to have Superman and Batman in it, then that would suck, and the movie would probably never be made due to fans rejecting that idea. Besides they tried to make a JLA movie before in 2007, and that never happened, and I think we all knew it wouldn't. I guess the same thing happened with the Supeman Lives movie never coming out because of just about everyone saying no to Nicholas Cage's Superman. God that idea was just as bad as Smallville's "Failsday," oh and speaking of Smallville... The end is near, so what? Don't mean to say that, no I think I'll be sad, but you never know the finale could be a huge shocker. I was certain the final one would be epic but seeing the way season 10 has gone, it doesn't look like it could be that good. "Lazarus," wasn't good enough for me, you have old Lex, and Clark still in darkness. And Zod is gone, the premiere didn't top the epic finale in season 9...tha was the problem. I expected by this point, we'd get the John Williams' music and Superman references. The wedding is obviously not consistent with the mythologey, because it's not supposed to happen now, and I know others must think, "who cares?" because they've let Clark go to the DP with Lois already, and Lois showed up on the series when none of this was supposed to happen, so why not let Lois and Clark get married? Aside from that, other things haven't worked for me, like the relationship with Clark and Jor-El, Clark and Lex as well. Lex will presumably come out as Clark's enemy by the end, and villain of the story perhaps, but I have to say other than Lex, I thought Lionel was the most developed character on the show ever. With Lex, their focus has been to turn him evil by the series ends, and we've seen just some development of that, but he has't become completely evil. He started out as the good guy and Clark's best friend in the pilot, so now we have to see him become Lex Luthor, the greatest villain of all time. lex has talked about brotherhood and his difference with Clark too often. He needs to talk to Clark with hatred now and want to kill him. The best change I've seen in Lex was in "Commencement." We see a few evil moments in "Descent" later on, but in "Arctic," he thinks he's the good guy again, and that was the last time we saw Lex, three years ago. He needs to become the comic book Lex Luthor. With Jor-El, I just wanted to go back, he said Clark was destined to conquer Earth before didn't he? And he threatened to kill Jonathan, and he left him in acoma. He said that Clark had to cut ties with hummanity. He used a human life and possessed her as Kara. He took his son and made him reborn. ![]() ~I look upon my powers as a gift...Not mine alone, but for anyone who needs them~ Superman: Peace on Earth Click Here to see my Super Fan Art!: http://groups.msn...lery2.msnw |

He needs to become the comic book Lex Luthor. A lot of the time Lex thinks of himself as the hero. He sees Superman as the alien menace. I don't want to see a one-note mad man Lex Luthor. If Smallville got anything right, it was Rosenbaum's portrayal of a flawed man. |

Actually there was a Justice League movie it just was not released in the theatres. To be honest I bet DC is waiting to see how well the Wonder WOman tv series goes over and what occurs in the third Batman movie. I know the logistics would be hard but I think AJL movie like the pilot for the cartoon would be good or even like the Leagues first apperence with Starvo. The thing is if they cannot get Reynolds for GL in a JL flick if the powers that be would do a recast for Hal or just do another GL. |

That's one of his biggest character traits. If you've ever read Lex Luthor: Man of Steel, then you'd know what we're talking about. That book does a great job of getting inside of Lex Luthors head, and it shows that he sees himself as a savior to the world...something that 'Smallville' did brilliantly. On another note, the reality that the show is ending probably won't hit until the finale ends. I Know My Destiny

It was never my expectation that true blue Superman would emerge before the formal finale, which is not to say it hasn't been maddening watching them stumble and trip over themselves getting there. But otherwise I'd say this show has delivered some fantastic moments, sufficiently so that I'm able to look past most of the sophomoric stuff that has been used to pander to the network's core demographic. I'd watch "Metropolis," if such a thing was in the offing. Marc Up, up . . . and omigod don't look down!

I should add another fun thing about the show is how many little treats the show has given long time Super fans in the course of the years. By this I mean having actors and actresses from previous incaranations in episodes plus some either unknown or semi unknown actors/actresses in episodes. I find it fun that the new movie has Lois Lane being portrayed by Amy Adams who was a relative unknown when she was a freak of the wek in Season 1 of Small. |

Let's not ruin the new movie by being reminded of that episode. |

No offense, I remember going to see Spider-Man 3 and Incredible Hulk, impacted from two finales.
