Just watched the finale promo..
Lex Vader
Uh, sorry to burst your magic sphere, but he's stepping forward and up. He's not flying. There's a crystal in the foreground. Also, do you expect that his dad is flying too?

i keep looking at it and it looks like he's gliding up to his dad who may be standing on an elevated platform, as clark 'moves' towards him it looks as if the prop used to lift him off the ground swings him almost too close to jonathan. As for the crystal in the foreground i have no idea what relevance that has on the clip and there was no mention of johnathan flying in this thread.

i dont care that much any more just thought i would reply to your comment as you seem almost condescending in your words and may be better than i am. I was simply making an observation, but anyway im stoked for the finale. if we can get some stills of the promo there is a crazy scene at 23 seconds of the large planetary body hovering above the city.

Dark Vader please feel free to look at this clip and rip it apart and make yourself superior please.

Lets just enjoy the finale.

Yes, I totally forced you to think someone using a step was a scene of someone flying. It's my fault you jumped to that wild conclusion. You've foiled my evil plans. Now my trick will never work again. Curses.

Whatever special effects money they spend ripping off Roland Emmerich, it won't change the fact that storywise, they've failed to live up to even seasons 8 and 9. And that's pretty bad. Darkseid and Granny Goodness mean exactly nothing on this show. I'd rather see Ant Man fight a bowl of Cheerios.

At least in ten years, they can say they managed to make a decent trailer.

So you're the "Lex Vader" that I've heard about? I'm not a bit impressed. Keep your negative comments to yourself? Why "try" to ruin it for us with your negativity? No one is forcing you to watch the finale. You've already made your decision on how you feel about Smallville. That's fine...........keep it to yourself. Let us the fans enjoy it. We all know the show is not going to please everyone. It's like crying over spill milk. The show is not going to change according to "Mr Lex Vader's" bible of Smallville/Superman bashing. Tell me though.....it really burns your ass to see people/fans enjoy the show. Sorry to tell you bro...you're no Superman expert. No one is . You're just a guy that hides behinds his Mac or PC that talks sh*t. Why are you such a grump? Your mom didn't breast fed you when you were a baby? Mannnnn......you're incredible.

I'll be praying for you that you do bro...

You really have nothing better to include in your prayers than trying to get bartrop laid? Negative opinions are just as valid as positive ones... and honestly, if someone's negativity is capable of ruining your enjoyment of something, maybe you're not enjoying that something as much as you think you do? Just a thought.

On the topic at hand, I myself know not to get excited or bumped based on trailers. Having said that, the comic book issue does concern me a little. Originally I didn't give it much thought, until I saw a big, strong "DC" mark on the cover. The company that invented (sort of) Superman exists in a Superman story and publishes books about Superman's childhood? Yeah, something's fishy there.

Oh, sorry. I thought discussion forums might be for all kinds of comments, not just nice ones that busy TV executives will never even read. If only someone had told me earlier! Oh well... why stop now?

Incidentally, I would never bash Superman, and I would never watch this show if I didn't love Superman. Which is odd, seeing as how this show has nothing in common with Superman. Agh, they tricked me!

I'm slightly worried about the comic book part of it

Marc Pritchard
The comic book that Chloe seems to be reading from will hopefully be just a hat-tip to bring the whole thing full circle, while functioning also to position this thing still closer to Donner's films (remember the way the first flick opens), the way they've been doing here and there since way back (especially this season).

It's not going to be "And the whole thing was just a comic book." It'll be a comic book about The Blur/Superman published within the fictional world. There's no escaping the intertextuality, of course, and subtlety is not Smallville's greatest strength. But anyway they've been playing with this going back to the Warrior Angel stuff, so I wouldn't get too worked up just yet.

But otherwise, yeah . . . ending on a scene like that would be a waste.
Up, up . . . and omigod don't look down!

Lex? You're still around? Get out of here! Pfft

To speak seriously for a moment, I don't care if they imply the whole series was a comic book. Superman: The Movie acknowledges itself as a comic before the panel turns into film, and it doesn't seem to ruin anyone's love for that movie. Come on guys, relax. Smallville's done worse than that, I could name about a million things worse.

I can't wait for the finale and to find out who are that boys parents:
Lois & Clark or Chloe & Oliver or Chloe & Clark (just kidding)
"You will give the people of earth an Ideal to strive towards, they'll race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall but in time they will join you in the sun, in time you will help them accomplish wonders"

JR1989
I think the comic book could be because superman has told the world about his secret identity and someone has based a comic on him, that scene with chloe reading the comic to the boy could be set 5 - 10 years in the future.
All will be revealed in the finale

Seriously....the trailer looks pretty daqmn epic, the whole seasons budget in 2 hours....sweet as by me if they can come thru. I think the comic book scene will be chloe reading to her child set in the future..i wont be getting me hopes up but ive got a good feeling about the finale, although i am not convinced we will see tom wearing the suit...fly yes suit...hmmm ???.

I wouldn't worry about lex guys...he will be glued to the finale like the rest of us ...box of tissues at the ready.

THESE MAY BE SPOILERS:
At Lois & Clarks wedding Oliver throws Clark thru a window.
The first 5 minutes may be a flashfoward to the future.

You guys I'm sure the Apokolips scene may not be that expensive if that's the only things we see. A couple of scenes of Apokolips heading towards Earth.

We saw a redsun in the background for several minutes in "Pandora."

It may not be big budgeted. You never know.

In the spacecast.com preview for the finale there is a hell of a lot more special effects being show like the planetary body passing by the moon and a couple other scenes that blow everything else out of the water.
