While the Justice League Dark is on their own mission in the latter half of the book, Black Canary has discovered that Green Arrow is financing both the Justice League and the latest version of Checkmate. The assassin known as Daemon Rose, who may or may not be Lois Lane's brother needs Checkmate's help. Before he can reveal why, Deathstroke the Terminator attacks him, Black Canary and Green Arrow. Slade Wilson's reasons for pursuing Daemon Rose are unclear, but they are sure to involve the Justice League in some way, shape or form.

Whoever is in the Deathstroke suit may not be Slade Wilson. However, Green Arrow, Black Canary and Daemon Rose have been shot before his identity can be revealed. To make matters worse, a distress call has been sent to all available leaguers. The Hall of Justice has been attacked by Symnar Utopica, leaving the Justice League defeated and their headquarters decimated.

5Story - 5: Bendis seems to be continuing where his "Action Comics", "Superman" and other DC books left off. There's nothing wrong with that. In fact, I'm hoping more of his dangling plot threads get resolved in this series. He left the man Supertitles too soon for my taste. Let's hope the same doesn't happen to "Justice League". I'm enjoying what he's writing for it too much.

5Art - 5: I've been a longtime fan of Steve Pugh since his days on "Superman". His work with Ed Brubaker on Captain America is nothing short of amazing. His art in this arc is at the level of what he did on the aforementioned comic books. He especially seems to work well with Bendis as this and "Action Comics" were and are among his best pages to date.

4Cover Art - 4: The dialogue balloon ruins what is already a pretty effective cover. The silence would have given a greater sense of dread and danger.

4Variant Cover Art - 4: There is just a bit too much yellow in this. A different background color would have worked better.
