As John Corben's sister visits him, great change has come to Earth. Superman has returned with Warworld orbiting the planet. The United Nations is pondering what to do with refugees, and Lois and Clark have taken in Otho and Osul while they try to find their place in the universe. Lex Luthor, in the meantime, has learned of the technology on Warworld from a presently unnamed source. He beams an avatar to take some from the recently freed world. He intends to install what he has into John Corben's cybernetic body. This could make Metallo more powerful than ever.

5Story - 5: This issue is darned overdue. "The Warworld Saga" went on a bit too long for my taste. That's probably why I initially had reservations about this comic. I'm hoping this serial doesn't suffer from the same problems later issues of "Warworld" had. Phillip Kennedy Johnson, in general, is doing fantastically on this title. I personally blame the "Warworld" flaws on editorial decisions due to the collected edition market in comics today. "Kal-El Returns" has started out well. I just hope it continues on its current path.

4Art - 4: While Federici's strengths as an artist are alien worlds and environments, he has proven he can do the more grounded aspects of Superman's world as well.

"Red Moon" - Part One

Writer: Phillip Kennedy Johnson
Artist: David Lapham

Thao-La has awakened as Superman and The Authority have returned to Earth in the most dramatic way possible with Warworld nearly destroying the Fortress of Solitude. They were victorious on Warworld, but some factions have not accepted that victory. One such group has arrived not far from the Daily Planet to exact revenge on Superman.

5Story - 5: We sort of got an answer to Conduit's warning in this back-up. Add that to the other elements in it, and you have a great chapter to Thao-La and the Superfamily's lives.

5Art - 5: Lapham does well with this back-up feature, and is perfect for any Superfamily story.

5Cover Art - 5: Some aspects are exaggerated, but that style fits this cover like a glove.

5Variant Cover Art - 5: Parrillo is perhaps one of the greatest Superman covers artists out there. This cover proves that.

5Variant Cover Art - 5: As much as I love all the covers for this issue, this one is my favorite due to it showing the Lois and Superman dynamic amazingly.

5Harley Quinn Variant Cover Art - 5: Man, I'm old! Harley's been around thirty years. I'll be in the nursing home giving this awesome cover a good rating.
