2005

  • Supergirl #0 (A new printing of "Superman/Batman #19" from May)
Jeph Loeb, Ian Churchill, Norm Rapmund
Supergirl flies into action from Paradise Island when she hears an alert about Air Force One in trouble. Superman and Batman covertly monitor her actions, as does the Calculator, who has set up a series of emergency situations to test Supergirl's powers and abilities. Outrunning Superman, Kara confronts Batman on their surveillance of her, before storming off to Gotham City. There she meets "Batgirl" and helps her take out Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, before "Batgirl" reveals herself to actually be Clayface. Dealing with the menace, she comes across Superman who is full of praise for his cousin. The Calculator voices his concern about Supergirl to his boss, Lex Luthor.

  • Supergirl #1 (October)
Jeph Loeb, Ian Churchill, Norm Rapmund
As they watch the JSA attempt to take down Solomon Grundy, Supergirl tells Stargirl about how she came to Earth from Krypton. Hoping to ask Powergirl some questions, Supergirl waits impatiently. When Powergirl seems to faulter against Grundy, Supergirl steps in and knocks him out. As the two girls go to shake hands, Powergirl inadvertantly attacks Supergirl and the two go into battle. The JSA pull them apart, and theorize that because the two girls have basically the same history, it's almost as if they two can't occupy the same space... Powergirl is basically allergic to Supergirl. Confused about the situation, Powergirl informs Supergirl that there's something "dark" within her. Meanwhile, looking on from afar, Lex Luthor vows to introduce himself to the Girl of Steel.

  • Supergirl #2 (November)
Jeph Loeb, Ian Churchill, Norm Rapmund
When Supergirl approaches Superboy, he gets angry, wanting to be left alone. The two do battle, but soon realize the error of their ways. Just as the two try to start over, the Teen Titans arrive and Superboy thinks Supergirl planned this all along. Before she can explain differently, Cassie punches Kara and the fight is on again. The fight ends when Starfire arrives, claiming she has some of the answers to Supergirl's questions. Meanwhile Lex Luthor wears his battle armor, and with Calculator, goes through what affects the various forms of Kryptonite embedded in his glove have.

  • Supergirl #3 (December)
Jeph Loeb, Ian Churchill, Norm Rapmund
Waiting around for Nightwing, Supergirl ends up in a fight with the rest of the Outsiders, before Nightwing finally shows up and reveals to her that Lex Luthor is the one who has been spying on her. Leaving the Outsiders behind, Supergirl flies to confront Lex, whom she meets wearing his battle suit. Lex quickly overpowers her with green kryptonite, before exposing her to black kryptonite, splitting Supergirl into two beings...
