Drogue. Tyyde. Gall. Three extraterrestrial sea gods wronged by Poseidon. Now, the Tear of Extinction's power is diffused among Cheetah, Black Manta and Mera. The latter must combine it with Poseidon's trident currently in the possession of Aquaman to save Earth, but for that to happen, Atlantis may have to die. Aquaman and Mera, along with the Justice League must do everything they can to save the world before the Death Kraken arrives. If they don't, the planet will be annihilated under water. The Legion of Doom has the Totality. Wonder Woman and Batman are at the center of the Earth activating switches that will launch Atlantis at the barrier blocking Earth from outside help from intergalactic heroes. This will send Mera's kingdom into space. Meanwhile, with the planet's population and its superheroes turned into sea beings, Mera and Aquaman attempt to negotiate with Gall, Tyyde and Drogue as the Tear of Extinction melds with Poseidon's trident's power. Things could go either way until Black Manta stabs the three sea gods and betrays Lex Luthor. As a result of his actions, Manta now has the crown that could control the Death Kraken. Aquaman's powers return to him once it's realized that Black Manta is unworthy of them. Will Aquaman be able stop his old foe and prevent the destruction of Earth? The battle with the Death Kraken does not go well. It's too strong for even the Justice League's mightiest members, and only Drogue can control the beast. The only way to stop the creature is for Aquaman to dive straight into it. His life power counteracts the death ones of the Kraken. Aquaman pilots his ship straight into the monster's maw, saving all that exists. Three days later, the world believes Arthur Curry sacrificed his life for that of every being in the world. In reality, he's washed up on a shore somewhere. Secrets and lies reveal their true faces throughout this issue. When this multiverse was born another universe ended, one whose mother, Perpetua, was imprisoned within the Source Wall with the seven dark energies of creation. Perpetua's symbol has been drawn throughout the ages and throughout the multiverse. Should its meaning be deciphered, Perpetua will awaken. The elderly, dying Martian Keep senses this time is near and reveals the truth to J'onn J'onzz. The Martian Keep isn't just telling him of the past, she's telling him of his past. Ancient Earth scientists had learned that Perpetua's warriors were human/martian hybrids. When she was placed within the Source Wall, that secret went with both Earthlings and those from Mars. Yet, DNA was taken to recreate Perpetua's army. It came from a green Martian child J'onn J'onzz. Now, J'onn is the key to saving the multiverse from darkness. If he can't set it on the right path, Perpetua will be free to plunge it into oblivion. Hawkgirl and John Stewart must convince the Green Lantern Corps that Thanagar Prime has broken the law by keeping the Martian Keep captive in their vaults. Empress Shayara helps the Leaguers' case with her madness. This is due to losing her people to Despero. Kilowog wants to arrest her. Hawkgirl, who learns her wings are a map to get where the Justice League must go to stop Perpetua, convinces him otherwise. The Justice League and the Green Lantern Corp will need all the help they can get to prevent the multiverse's destruction. With that, Starman appears with Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman. He puts a part of Hawkgirl within Empress Shayara back where it belongs. She feels as if something missing from her had been returned to her, and it's just in time. The Justice League and Starman will need every hero at their disposal to save the multiverse.

On Earth, Starman, Mera and Jarro battle a gargantuan Mister Mxyzptlk, who is unimagining things out of existence to the point of breaking the fourth wall and an artist's pencil. Batman is shown quasi-Utopian Gotham. All these events are but mere steps to a bigger picture, one that could shape and change the future of the Justice League forever. Future Superman has revealed himself to be the World Forger, son of Perpetua and brother of the Monitor and the Anti-Monitor. He wants the Justice League to take prisoners of war before the coming battle with Perpetua to save the multiverse. However, this would comprise what the team stands for as the beings incarcerated must remain that way forever without any chance of redemption or finding a home. The League's choice could doom all life in the omniverse worse than Lex Luthor's plans for Perpetua. To show them this, the World Forger transports them to a version of Apokolips where all their foes are in prison thanks to the new leader who destroyed Superman, Lois Lane.
