Who's Who in the Superman Comics

The Legion of Super-Heroes

The Legion of Super-Heroes is a group of young crimefighters who come from the 30th Century. Based in the future Metropolis, The Legion was originally inspired by the heroics of Superman. It's three founding members are:

Lightning Lad - Garth Ranzz is a human dynamo, with the ability to project electrical energy bolts from his body.

Cosmic Boy - Rokk Krinn is a true master of magnetism. His power allows him to attract and repel matter, affect any metallic substances, and he can even fly along magnetic lines of any planet.

Saturn Girl - Imra Ardeen, a native of Titan, possesses mastery of telepathic powers. She can read people's minds, communicate with others regardless of language barriers, and even control an unsuspecting person's mind.

The Legion of Super-Heroes is uniquely tied to Superman. Besides being headquartered in Metropolis, its membership includes Brainiac 5, a direct descendent of Superman's foe Brainiac, and alternate dimensional versions of Superboy and Supergirl have been members of the team. Also, the 30th Century adventurer named Valor, was also known as Mon-El, and appeared on Superman's home planet Krypton before it exploded.

Familiar Superman foes such as Darkseid and Brainiac have fought the entire Legion on several occasions. And ironically, the appearance of The Fatal Five fighting Superman on TV inspired a modern day enemy of Superman: The Persuader!

Over its preeminent existence, The Legion of Super-Heroes has had several members, and it has also established The Legion Academy, training would-be members and heroes throughout the known galaxies.

All active Legionnaires are given a Legion flight ring that allows them powerful antigravitational abilities similar in principle to the Nth Metal in Hawkman's wings.
