June 6, 2002: Jeph Loeb Writing For “Smallville”

Jeph Loeb is well known amongst Superman comic book readers as the writer on the "Superman" title, and recently announced writer on the up-coming "Superman and Batman" title. Well Superman fans who don't read the comic books are about to learn just why Jeph is a fan favorite. Jeph Loeb has just joined the staff on the hit TV show "Smallville".

The Comics Continuum caught up with Jeph and asked him all about his position on the "Smallville" staff. Here's an excerpt from their report...

"As with most things that happen in my life, I got lucky," Loeb told The Continuum on Wednesday. "Al and Miles (Gough and Millar, the show's creators and executive producers) called me in last season to pitch some ideas for shows. I just kept babbling until they offered me a job for THIS season! It's a great group of folks and I'm having a blast."

Loeb began work on the show on Monday.

"At the moment, I'm the guy who writes everything down on the whiteboard. My hands are covered with markers!" Loeb said. "Actually, Al and Miles run the writers' room as very much a team effort. Everyone pitches ideas for stories and they help us form them into some very cool upcoming episodes. I WILL be writing for the show and my title is 'consulting producer' which I guess means that I'm the ambassador to Spain."
