May 19, 2020: Snyder Cut of "Justice League" Could Premiere on HBO Max
The rumors and speculations about an actual release of the infamous "Snyder Cut" of the "Justice League" movie are gaining speed by the day.As you'll recall, director Zack Snyder was forced to stand down before completing the film, due to the untimely death of his daughter. Joss Whedon was brought in to finish off the film, reshooting many scenes and making a number of changes to the script. Knowing Snyder's version would have been much different to what we saw, the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut hashtag has been used over the past three years with fans and cast members alike adding their support to call for Warner Bros. to release Snyder's version of the film... whether it is complete or not.
According to various sources, a private screening of Snyder's cut of the film was reported to have taken place, with DC executives in attendance. Although unfinished, it is unlikely that Warner Bros. would be willing to invest the $20 million that is reportedly needed to finish off Snyder's version. However, it would appear it is nevertheless watchable in its current state.
According to DCEUmythic.com and HeroicHollywood.com, multiple reliable sources are saying something is coming, but no one can agree on what form it'll be, although whatever it turns out to be will stream on HBO Max.
Some are claiming it'll be a mini-series. Others think it could just be the movie. And there's a possibility it'll be "as is", presented as a workprint or something similar; much like how Warner Brothers officially released the Blade Runner workprint cut on the five-disc Blu-ray set years ago, although this would be on HBO Max and not Blu-ray.
There is speculation that Zack Snyder may make some kind of announcement about this during his live Watch Party of "Man of Steel" he is hosting on his Vero social media account tomorrow, Wednesday, May 20 at 8.00am PDT.
