NOTE: This story takes place before "Action Comics #1051".
Conner is from another universe and does not belong. He feels like just one of many among the Superman family and the other heroes of Earth. He decides to find someone who needs his help searching the universe. He may have found more than he bargained for in the form of a Dominator with an army of genetically engineered aliens.
The story starts with Conner looking good saving a group of denizens of Metropolis and having fun while doing it. Catching a car with one hand while holding an order of coffee in the other. Unfortunately, Conner is quick to realize that he is not needed as Jon, Kara, and Superman already have the attack by Dr. Polaris under control. Realizing this, Conner continues his coffee run for the Kents back in Smallville.
After confiding in the Kents, Conner decides to go to the Fortress of Solitude to search for someone who needs his help. After expanding his search to a galactic scale he identifies an unknown planet that is under siege by the Dominators.
Story - 4: Yes, comics can still be fun. Conner is a very underused character and recently just a background character in the current Action Comics book. It is good to see him get a mini series and better yet, in what seems to be a fun space adventure story. With the rogue Dominator experimenting on aliens to create super soldiers, this mini series suggests that it will provide a very personal character developing story for Conner.
Art - 3: Solid storytelling and art throughout the issue. The style is more cartoony than realistic, helping to establish the fun nature of the book.
Cover Art - 4: Great cover with an interesting take on the classic design of Conner. With his back to the audience, he shows off the Superman crest on the back of his leather jacket while he carries a duffel bag over his shoulder. This cover is a fun tease of where this book is taking Superboy.
Variant Cover Art - 3: Another play on the classic Superboy design. Second best cover.
1:25 Variant Cover Art - 3: Third best cover. Odd pose and Conner is missing the bottom half of his legs.
1:50 Variant Cover Art - 2: Hyperrealistic, this Superboy could be from the "Superman & Lois" universe.
Superman Variant Cover Art - 3: Fun bright cover, but even after reading the book I am not sure what the bottom image is supposed to be.
