We now go to the Old West. Vandal Savage, in typical villain fashion, explains to an imprisoned Batman his use of the Great Darkness to erase the Age of Heroes from existence. However, he later learns that the revelation of his plans was actually a confession. The Guardians of the Universe sentence Savage to non-existence. Vandal reacts by attacking with a ring full of Great Darkness energy, only to be defeated and erased by Kala Lour, the Gold Lantern. The Guardians assign Kala to search the universe for others to be part of a Gold Lantern Corps. However as the Gold Lantern, the Justice League and the Legion of Super-Heroes celebrate victory, Vandal Savage is found and rescued by Jonah Hex. Vandal Savage is sure to return.

2Story - 2: To be fair, this issue has some good moments. The appearance of the Oa's Guardians of the Universe, the Gold Lantern's assignment to form the Gold Lantern Corps and Justice League's celebration with the Legion are quite amazing. Yet, those events mentioned are overshadowed by an issue that fails to deliver in spite of its potential. The ending itself had me face palming like that meme of Jean-Luc Picard.

This series suffers from what many comics have sadly suffered from in the writing department lately. It started out with a lot of potential, but as it continued, the pacing and overall plot went everywhere and nowhere all at once. The delays in getting the book released only worsened these flaws. To call this particular issue a convoluted mess would be a grievous understatement and perhaps a complement. As much I love Bendis' work, he did not put his best foot forward with this one.

2Art - 2: The art's quality has deteriorated since the previous issue's release. Like the story, it feels like it has the "Let's finish this to finish it" attitude.

3Variant Cover Art - 3: The variant, while being the saving grace, isn't up to the quality of the previous ones in the series.
